Efficacy of Calcium Hydroxide and Mineral Trioxide Aggregate in the Formation of Dentin Bridge – A Randomized Controlled Trial

OBJECTIVE: This study is to compare the dentin bridge thickness achieved using calcium hydroxide and MTA radiographs. METHODOLOGY: Single blinded randomized controlled trial conducted in Operative Dentistry department at Fatima Jinnah Dental College Hospital, Karachi. A total of 100 premolar molar teeth with class I II cavities were included this study. The participants assigned into two groups, B 50 each. Under local anesthesia, Group was indirectly pulp capped Calcium (Dycal) received Mineral Trioxide Aggregate as an indirect capping material. Both groups then restored Glass Ionomer Cement. Radiographic follow up carried out three six months determine mean reparative bridge. RESULTS: Statistical analysis performed SPSS v 23. Independent Sample t-test applied evaluate formation Ca(OH)2 3 & 6 months, outcomes highly significant (p-value<0.001). Paired sample difference results (p-value <0.001).
